*What is “white flag”?

White flag means that people can shelter inside the Salvation Army - day or night - even if they do not have a bed. White flag operation is activated when temperatures are not expected to rise above 35 degrees Fahrenheit. The Salvation Army is our community’s only year-round emergency shelter, often remaining at full occupancy.

Who are warming centers for?

Anyone who needs respite from the cold. Whether the heat is “out” in your home or you are exposed to the elements outdoors, warming centers offer an additional community organization-based option to stay warm even during daytime. Warming Centers are also a way that local organizations demonstrate their support for staff and residents of the only year-round emergency shelter. By offering alternative daytime shelters during heightened weather events, the community collaborates to keep our members safe.

Overnight shelters
  • 1/23 Friday — 1/29 Thursday Salvation Army (white flag*)
  • mid-November — mid-March Room in the Inn, registration is nightly by 5pm at the Life Nav Center (423 W Main Ave)
